Struggling with your digestion or IBS?

The best way to solve your digestion problems is to do it slowly, focussing on a few foods at a time.
– Nutrition & IBS
My Approach to IBS
Have you been following a restricted diet hoping that it would solve things or avoiding foods, but it still hasn’t made a difference? Here’s a secret: it’s not always about removing things from your diet; sometimes it’s the combination of foods you eat, including more variety into your meals or switching from one type of fruit or vegetable to another that gives you the relief you need.
We’ll make a bespoke plan for you, starting with just 2 or 3 simple things to cut out or add into your meals, so that you get relief straight away.
As a Registered Nutritionist, I’ll explore with you the food you eat and identify patterns of foods that trigger your symptoms. We’ll find out whether it’s the time of day, how often or where you are eating that’s causing your problems and identify the connection between what you are eating, doing or drinking that’s making you suffer, feel nauseous, tired or low in energy.

You won’t have to completely overhaul your diet, clear out all your cupboards and buy a whole new raft of foods or ingredients you didn’t even know existed to beat the bloat.
If you are worried about being made to go gluten or dairy free or stay on the low FODMAP diet forever, that’s not my default. I know that some foods make your bloating worse, do smelly farts, burp more or lead to pain under your ribcage. I can spot those patterns – sometimes it might be the food you love (bread, milk, biscuits or cheese!) but often it’s something you haven’t even considered could be a problem, despite your googling and late night research.
Working out which food or drinks to avoid – and ideally not for life! – is my speciality! I aim to restore your digestive health whilst keeping as much variety and colour in your meals as possible.

Suffering from any of these?
Uncomfortable bloating; Diarrhoea; Belching; Constipation; Urgently need to go to the loo; Abdominal pain or cramping; Trapped wind; Excessive wind or burping; Smelly wind or burping; Heartburn; Acid reflux
These are the areas I can support you…

I will take the worry off your hands, so that you can live your life normally and eat without the overwhelm
My Reset Your Digestion Programme supports you throughout the 12 weeks – I’ll check in with you online in between each consultation to see how you’re getting on and monitor your progress, so you won’t feel lost or confused!
We’ll build on changes slowly each session, and that’s why my Reset Your Digestion Programme includes 3 consultations to gradually make the changes you need.
And my clients and family will tell you, talking about poo, bloating, constipation and anything digestion or gut related is part of my everyday life: you’ll soon feel at ease chatting to me.

Reset your Digestion Programme
by Virginia Hills
Everyone is different, which is why my personalised, step-by-step approach is the key to resolving your digestive symptoms naturally and permanently.
I will help you change the food YOU eat to reset your digestion naturally, so that you can enjoy eating again.

the unique programme follows a step-by-step approach to your health, and typically lasts for around 90-days
step one.
Let’s Chat
step two.
The Prep
You’ll complete an online questionnaire, and record a food, drink and lifestyle diary in preparation for our first 90-minute consultation. Don’t worry, it’s easy!
step three.
Our Initial Steps
We’ll then have our 90-minute consultation, explore the information you’ve provided a little further and work on some initial changes to your food & lifestyle to start getting you on track and so that you can start winning at life once again…
You will also receive your Personalised Health Plan, covering your specific recommendations (no need to take notes!), supplement & functional test recommendations (if that’s what you choose) via my secure, online portal.
Approximately 2 weeks later, we meet again for a 15-minute chat to see how you’re getting on and whether you have any quick questions you need help with.

step four.
The Follow-Up
We’ll agree some further food & lifestyle changes at your pace and discuss any change in or new symptoms you’ve encountered. We’ll also review any functional test results (if appropriate) or supplements I’ve suggested – and you’ll receive another Personalised Health Plan afterwards.

We then work on a 2 – 3 week check-in & follow-up cycle with a third, Personalised Health Plan after your next follow-up to complete your programme.
If you are not feeling 100% tip-top by the end of your programme, we can repeat this process until you are: the number of times we meet varies from person to person and on how quickly your body responds to the lifestyle changes implemented. This is completely flexible, and you are under no obligation to keep going once you feel better, but can always book another 60-minute consultation if you need it.

You ask, I answer
if your question is not listed, just get in touch
Should I change my diet before I come to you?
Will I need to take any tests - blood, stool or food intolerance tests?
Will I need to take supplements?
Do you work with clients with SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)?
Can I work with you if I have IBS?
Do you work with men?
Could I be constipated?
Do you suspect you have a food intolerance and avoiding certain foods as a result?
How do I pay for my programme of consultations?
If you require a payment plan to spread the cost of your Programme, you can pay your Programme Fees in two instalments: the first instalment is due at least 48 hours before your initial consultation & the second instalment is due at least 48 hours before your first follow-up consultation.
Please note that your Programme is not confirmed until payment (or your first instalment, as appropriate) is received.
Will I have to cut out gluten, bread, pasta or cheese forever?
What's the advantage of taking a functional stool test?
If I suspect this and recommend a functional stool test, my approach can be much more targeted and specific, which leads to faster results for you.
Can you test my gut bacteria (the gut microbiome)?
I’ve been told I need to go on the low FODMAP diet, but don’t know how or why. Can you help?
Do you work with children?
Do I need to have a diagnosis of IBS before working with you?
Is it possible that some foods can make me burp more, give me more wind or make the wind/burps more smelly?
Do I need to come and see you in person?

what my clients say
Seeing Virginia was the BEST decision! She recommended testing & combined with her excellent knowledge, Virginia was able to explain why my symptoms were happening: after following her targeted advice, I have had no further problems & am so grateful. I thought my previous diet was quite healthy & wasn’t sure any changes would make such a significant difference – I cannot recommend Virginia more highly.
Virginia is very knowledgeable and lovely: she is easy to talk to and provides lots of advice in her sessions.
Virginia was able to pull out the key points from what I was saying and understand what my issues and concerns were in a concise manner. She then gave me advice and suggested changes that have made immediate improvements to my health and wellbeing. I am so utterly grateful and feel thoroughly relieved to have a real plan.
Virginia is amazingly understanding, supportive, helpful & incredibly knowledgeable about all things related to diet, nutrition & digestion! She is extremely caring & offers very helpful advice in a way that is down to earth, sensitive, sensible & not too unrealistic either.
I would highly recommend her to anyone I know, as well as others I don’t.
You can literally say anything to Virginia – she doesn’t judge, goes at your pace, is a lot of fun and soooo knowledgeable.
Working with Virginia is very comfortable and relaxed. She certainly knows her subject and explains very clearly why the body reacts the way it does. Virginia is very friendly, chatty and open. I felt at ease discussing the very personal aspects of my dietary effects.
Quick one, just to say Happy Christmas. I am approaching it feeling better than I have for years. No blips since we were last in contact. I’ll be in touch again in January. Thanks for everything.
