Worried about your Gut Health?

A gentle, staged & personalised approach is the best way to calm and repair your gut: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

If you struggle with digestive symptoms – bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn after meals, smelly wind, food intolerances, or you’ve been diagnosed with IBS, ulcerative colitis or diverticulitis, you’ll know your gut health needs some love. It’s knowing where to start and how to reach that nirvana that’s the difficult part…. that’s where my Gut Health Programme comes in.

– Nutrition & your gut

Optimum gut health affects your whole body and plays a pivotal role in your overall well-being.

Unpleasant digestive symptoms are not the only sign that your gut health needs some love – 90% of diseases are linked to poor gut health. The health of your gut can affect your immune system, mental health and well-being, your skin (think psoriasis, acne or eczema), inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and even weight management. By optimising your gut health through nutrition, you can have a positive impact on your daily life.

Suffering from any of these?

Bloating; Constipation; Diarrhoea; Heartburn after meal; Smelly wind; Food intolerances; IBS; Ulcerative Colitis; Diverticulitis; Psoriasis; Acne; Eczema; Rheumatoid arthritis; Autoimmune conditions; Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO); Anxiety and Depression

These are the areas I can support you…

Eating a Mediterranean diet & increasing the amount of fibre you eat is one of the best ways to improve your gut health but…

…it’s difficult & can often make your symptoms worse!

We’ll work together to increase the range and types of foods you eat at the right times – so that your “friendly” gut bugs grow & develop into a diverse and abundant range of bacteria that support rather than wreaking havoc with your health.
But the timing of when you introduce each food is key too – whether prebiotic (onions, garlic, asparagus etc) or probiotic (yoghurt, sauerkraut or kimchi etc) – introduce them too early and you’ll feel so much worse.

Did you know that long term restrictive diets can harm your microbiome?

I wont force you to follow any restrictive diets (FODMAP or otherwise) forever – because that can negatively affect your health and your gut microbiome. I want you to make changes that are safe and give you confidence, whilst always keeping an eye on the ultimate goal of supporting your long term health.

the unique programme follows a step-by-step approach to your gut health, and typically lasts for around 90-days

Your gut microbiome is like a garden – it needs a little nurturing, love, tenderness, time to flourish & wow its host. Slow & steady wins the race…
And we can work on weeding out the bad guys if we need to.

step one.

Let’s Chat

Book an evaluation call where I will be able to discover your goals and determine if my services are a good fit for you.

step two.

The Prep

You’ll complete an online questionnaire, and record a food, drink and lifestyle diary in preparation for our first 90-minute consultation. Don’t worry, it’s easy!

step three.

Our Initial Steps

We’ll then have our 90-minute consultation, explore the information you’ve provided a little further and work on some initial changes to your food & lifestyle to start getting you on track and so that you can start winning at life once again…

You will also receive your Personalised Health Plan, covering your specific recommendations (no need to take notes!), supplement & functional test recommendations (if that’s what you choose) via my secure, online portal.

Approximately 2 weeks later, we meet again for a 15-minute chat to see how you’re getting on and whether you have any quick questions you need help with.

step four.

The Follow-Up

After 4-weeks on your Personal Health Plan, we’ll meet again for a 60-minute consultation to see how you’re getting on, the improvements you have noted, and what we still need to work on.
We’ll agree some further food & lifestyle changes at your pace and discuss any change in or new symptoms you’ve encountered. We’ll also review any functional test results (if appropriate) or supplements I’ve suggested – and you’ll receive another Personalised Health Plan afterwards.

We then work on a 2 – 3 week check-in & follow-up cycle with a third, Personalised Health Plan after your next follow-up to complete your programme.

If you are not feeling 100% tip-top by the end of your programme, we can repeat this process until you are: the number of times we meet varies from person to person and on how quickly your body responds to the lifestyle changes implemented. This is completely flexible, and you are under no obligation to keep going once you feel better, but can always book another 60-minute consultation if you need it.

Should I change my diet before I come to you?

No – please don’t make any changes! It’s best if you keep your diet as normal as possible before your first consultation. The quickest way for me to understand your gut health is for me to see exactly what you are eating and drinking and how you are feeling at your first consultation. I won’t judge you on what you eat: my sole focus is understanding and supporting your gut health.

Can you test my gut bacteria (the gut microbiome)?

Yes! This can play a significant part in your symptoms (if you have any) and gives a more specific insight into your gut health. You can order a private, functional stool test through me that you can take at home. With a functional stool test result, my approach can be much more targeted and specific, leading to faster and more personalised results for you. All functional tests are in addition to your programme costs.

Can a stool test at my GP provide the same information as a functional stool test?
A stool test from your GP is more focussed on acute situations, e.g. to assess a recent instance of food poisoning, look for inflammation or any evidence of a potential cancer. They do not generally look for markers that may be connected with your overall health and well-being or that could affect your skin or other conditions or symptoms.

A functional stool test does not seek to replace any tests that your GP can request, rather to enhance your experience and support your health journey.

I’ve been told I need to go on the low FODMAP diet but don’t know why or how to do it. Can you help?
Yes! Book in a chat with me and we can discuss how I can help!
Do I need to come and see you in person?
No. All of my consultations are run online, using zoom. You can be sitting in the comfort of your own home or office when working with me. However, I will ask you to have your video turned on during our consultations, as this helps me to get to know you better (and I will always have my video on too!).
Do you work with men?
Yes.
Do I need to have a diagnosis of IBS before working with you?
No. However, if I feel that a diagnosis of IBS will benefit you or if I am concerned about any of your symptoms, I will refer you to and work alongside your GP. We can continue working together in the meantime.
How many consultations will I need?
How long is a piece of string?! This depends on the person and your gut, but most of my gut health clients work with me for approximately 6 months, many stay with me for 1 year and then check in again when they need to. I will usually have a better understanding of this after your second consultation.
Will I have to stop eating gluten, bread and pasta forever?
Whilst gluten and dairy are unhelpful for some people, you don’t always need to cut gluten (e.g. bread and pasta) or dairy out of your meals and, if you do, it’s not always forever.
What's the advantage of taking a functional stool test?
Sometimes there could be digestive health markers or an imbalance in your gut microbiome (generally referred to as dysbiosis) that can contribute to your symptoms, where food changes alone may be insufficient.
If I suspect this is this case and recommend a functional stool test, my approach can be much more targeted and specific, leading to faster and more personalised results for you. All functional tests are in addition to your programme costs.
Will I need to take supplements?
This very much depends on your symptoms and your situation. Sometimes I do recommend supplements, but only those that I believe will benefit you and help you reach your goal in a more targeted and quicker way and, most importantly, only if you wish to do so. I always try to keep supplement recommendations to a minimum and within your budget range, recommending good quality supplements from a recommended, online supplier. You will receive a 10% discount on any personalised supplements I recommend.
Do you work with clients with SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)?
Yes.
How do I pay for my programme of consultations?
You will receive payment information in your Programme reservation email: your Programme Fees should be paid by bank transfer at least 48 hours before your initial consultation.
If you require a payment plan to spread the cost of your Programme, you can pay your Programme Fees in two instalments: the first instalment is due at least 48 hours before your initial consultation & the second instalment is due at least 48 hours before your first follow-up consultation.

Please note that your Programme is not confirmed until payment (or your first instalment, as appropriate) is received.

Can I work with you if I have IBS?
Yes. Many of my clients have received an IBS diagnosis from their GP, but not all. If I believe you need to see a GP for this or any other diagnosis, I will ask you to book an appointment with your GP in between our consultations and work alongside your GP’s recommendations.
Are you avoiding certain foods because you think you have a food intolerance?
Not sure how to eat around it or solve it? That’s my speciality! Book in a chat with me and we can discuss how I can help!
Do you work with children?
Yes. I generally work with children once they have reached around 7 or 8 years old; provided you feel that your child is able to communicate their symptoms with me and/or how they are feeling. I will work very slowly with your child and would ask you to be present in the consultation. Your child does nots necessarily need to be present for each consultation: however, I would like to see them for at least part of the first consultation.

Struggling with the symptoms of menopause?

what my clients say

Seeing Virginia was the BEST decision! She recommended testing & combined with her excellent knowledge, Virginia was able to explain why my symptoms were happening: after following her targeted advice, I have had no further problems & am so grateful. I thought my previous diet was quite healthy & wasn’t sure any changes would make such a significant difference – I cannot recommend Virginia more highly.

Virginia was able to pull out the key points from what I was saying and understand what my issues and concerns were in a concise manner. Virginia is amazingly understanding, supportive, helpful & incredibly knowledgeable about all things related to diet, nutrition & digestion! She is extremely caring & offers very helpful advice in a way that is down to earth, sensitive, sensible & not too unrealistic either.
